This fictional comedy follows two elderly men who share a room in a nursing home. After a few cutting remarks from younger people, they suddenly feel a profound sense of powerlessness in every aspect of their lives. To prove that they can still control their bodies, status, and even the world, they decide to “stand up” again to prove that they are still as sharp as ever. For this reason, they embark on various attempts, and the film focuses on these attempts’ absurd and humorous process.

The Chinese title of the film is “Little Dream,” because something as trivial as an erection has become a worry and dream for the two old men. The use of contrast and irony deepens the comedy and enhances the comedic elements.

The English title, MAKE DICK GREAT AGAIN, borrowing a famous quote from U.S. President Donald Trump, which equates national prosperity and decline with personal sexual ability. This extreme comparison and irony are particularly pronounced in the context of Trump’s administration’s trade policies, which have severely impacted the global economy.

The film expresses its themes directly and sharply, bringing discussions about “male sexual function” to the screen as the main event and core plot. While it is candid, it is not vulgar, and it uniquely showcases the film’s core. It has profound and rich connotations. Men who are in a dominant position in society often look down on women and young people. However, as they age and their status changes, the film explores how they might cope when they become the subjects of judgment. It also addresses the social issue of elderly sexual desire. It presents absurd and humorous elements, discarding the usual expressions of suffering and melancholy when discussing human issues. It dramatically and absurdly exaggerates the contradictory yet unified relationship between the two old men, as well as the various attempts they undertake. The film depicts the story of people who were once dominant but are now in a disadvantageous position, constantly being scrutinized and judged, seeking breakthroughs and awakening. It calls on humanity to break free from shackles and sincerely embrace themselves and the world around them.
