Building on the “crooked room” concept from Melissa Harris Perry’s book “Sister Citizen”, the video depicts Lá Rel trapped in a room of crooked images and being freed by other black women and ultimately by herself. “War Love” puts the journey to self-reflection, love, and acknowledgment FOR Black women BY Black women on display, and it is magic. It is war, and it is love.
