Treatise on Mannequins

Treatise on Mannequins

Posted by

“Treatise on Mannequins” is an experimental film that immerses the viewer in the world of mannequins. Its central theme is the identity of a modern man and his dehumanization in the face of pervasive consumerism. The film highlights the decline of individualism and spiritual degradation, foreshadowing the ultimate collapse of high culture. The world of mannequins is one of the soulless, emotionless objects —mass-produced from a single mold — that remain indifferent to reality. Inspired by the prose of Bruno Schulz and Tadeusz Kantor’s Theatre of Death, the film uses mannequin symbolism to address human suffering and the eternal longing to create something enduring amidst the transience and fragility of life. These questions remain highly relevant today.
