Ajie flees right after robbing a bank. He is feeling triumphant about the money inside his bag when he suddenly remembers he needs to hand the cash over to his contact David at a café. Ajie walks into the café and orders an iced Americano, keeping an eye on his surroundings while waiting for an opportunity.
Zhou enters the café disguised as an undercover cop, intending to steal all the money from Ajie for himself. Under Zhou’s persistent interrogation and intimidation, Ajie breaks down. Unable to withstand the pressure, he hands over the money bag to Zhou. Only after Zhou takes the bag and leaves does Ajie realize that all of Zhou’s police gear is fake.
The brutal twist unmasks both men’s hollow bluffs. Zhou’s badge and firearm are only cheap props. Eminence Front explores how greed and fear drive people to build deceptive, imposing fronts to intimidate one another—no one’s tough act is genuine beneath the surface.
