Elif’s eighteen years of silence is shattered for the first time by the death of her grandfather, and then completely broken by a seemingly ordinary question from a police officer.
Growing up believing she was an only child, Elif’s sense of reality begins to fracture overnight. While the absence of her grandfather takes away the only emotional anchor she has ever truly known, inconsistencies about her identity trigger a second collapse within her mind.
As her memory drifts between childhood loneliness, hospital corridors, and an unnamed sense of emptiness, the truth slowly surfaces. The line between denial and acceptance becomes increasingly blurred. Elif is forced to confront not only a secret her family has kept from her, but also the fragile structure of her own identity.
As the void left by her grandfather’s death coincides with the unraveling of her identity, Elif is left with a single question:
If your story was written before you were born, do you truly have the power to choose?
