Inspired by real events, Zhījiān (Between) follows Lucy, a Chinese immigrant forced to leave the U.S. after her visa gets rejected. Burdened by pressure, uncertainty, and fear of disappointing her mother, Lucy navigates one of the darkest moments of her life. Through her mother’s response, she begins to see that a door closed does not mean the end, but the beginning of something new.
