

Barbara Liskov is a pioneering computer scientist. A National Inventors Hall of Fame® Inductee and A.M. Turing Award laureate, she laid the foundation for programming languages that have made computer programs more reliable, more secure and easier for us to use. From inventing the principle of data abstraction to leading the design and implementation of the CLU programming language, Liskov’s work has shaped the field of computer science.
