“Five Things to Love” Logline: A research-based, coming-of-age story about a struggling Maggie who must reckon with her grief and overcome her alcohol addiction to find her voice again.
Summary: Maggie has a problem. She is an alcoholic. But she’s not quite ready to say it out loud. After a particularly bad night that lands her in jail, Maggie is finally ready to admit that she needs help. In “Five Things to Love” we follow Maggie as she claws her way back to the light through loss, friendship, love, and her newfound strength.
“Five Things to Love” is a short film created in a research-based anthology collection about mental health titled “Sitting With It” – about rebounding individuals who must overcome distortions provoked by mental illness in order to find peace, helping the world empathize with them better.
Purpose/Inspiration: At the heart of this project is a simple yet urgent idea: to reshape the way we see mental health. 1 in 4 people are currently struggling with mental illness. Everyone is affected by mental illness, but the hardship is still suppressed. Each short film presents a cinematic, narrative-driven exploration of different mental health conditions through a research-based lens. We believe everyone deserves empathy and create indie Film / TV to support this belief.
