After her gran dies, Milly drags herself back to a church funeral: aka a nest of devout, judgmental relatives who can’t see how checked out she is. Her mom, Lize, has recently “found God”. This is where all the passive-aggressive funeral prep, side-eye, and the occasional Afrikaans abush leaves Milly stranded at the dinner table.
Things blow up when Milly slams her mom’s Bible down midfamily roast session. Later, she finds out the book is full of scribbles and doubts; proof that even Lize doesn’t buy into her own holy “glow”. They share one fleeting heart-to-heart on a late-night drive… and then it’s gone.
At church the next morning, Lize is radiant up front, basking in hymns, while Milly gets politely banished to the back pew. She mouths the words, trying to belong, but nope. wrong song, wrong place, wrong everything. The film ends there: no resolution, just a mother and daughter who really did try… and still missed each other.

Directed by Calista Noelle Hinrichsen (South Africa)
