In between the fragile space of girlhood and adulthood, 20 year old Poppy (LouLou Brazill) faces a life-altering decision: an unexpected pregnancy she must navigate alone. This follows the end of a toxic, abusive relationship she’s only just escaped. Overwhelmed by fear and distrust, she retreats inward, shutting down emotionally and cutting herself off from the outside world. With no close friends or family to lean on, Poppy clings to the comfort of her fading adolescence, convincing herself that isolation is safer than facing the future.

Then she meets Charlie (Alessandro Niba) — a blunt, awkward, young man who is carrying his own invisible weight. He’s not there to rescue her, and he doesn’t try, but his unfiltered honesty challenges Poppy in ways no one else has. Their unexpected connection forces her to confront the bitterness, fear, and vulnerability she’s kept buried—and to question whether shutting the world out is the protection she believes it is.

‘Chocolate Birds’ is a raw, emotionally layered portrait of a young woman standing at the edge of adulthood—navigating trauma, trust, and the difficult but transformative act of letting someone truly see her.
