Dwayne is a broken man after his wife passes away. He tries to cope with his feelings by hiding them from the outside world and himself. His inner chaos spills out when he gets into a car accident with his aunt, shortly after a Surinamese mourning ritual held for his deceased wife. The next day he drives through the Surinamese countryside back to the location where the accident took place. On his way there he meets Larissa, a mysterious woman in need of help. Dwayne gives her a lift back home, and she invites him in to eat dinner. Dwayne notices that there is something clearly off about Larissa, but in order to make up for the guilt and sadness that built up in his personal life, he decides to stay with her. What started out as a seemingly innocent diner quickly changes into a bizarre surrealistic nightmare. Something inhuman and unexplainable is secretly pulling the strings, and Dwayne loses his grip on reality. He seems to be lost and trapped in the same cold and unsettling world where Larissa is trapped. As Dwayne gets more entangled in Larissa’s world, escaping gradually becomes more impossible.
