Set in the Mosuo community of Yunnan, one of the few remaining female-dominant societies in the world, this documentary focuses on “Daba,” a religiously vital role once central to the community. Once widely practiced, it is now taken up by only two individuals, whose efforts to pass on their knowledge are met with indifference.
This film captures their struggle and raises an urgent question: Will the culture of the Mosuo people, leaning on this near-collapsing tradition, survive?
