Hometown is a short film shot in late July 2025 in Maisu, a Tibetan town located on the western Sichuan Plateau. It centers on “Shuabazi”, a traditional local cultural gathering that remains a vital part of community’s life and sense of shared identity.

The film follows Quxi and Qingcuo, two Maisu natives currently working in Chengdu, as they return home specifically to participate in this annual celebration.

Through candid interviews, Hometown captures their reflections on the contrast between urban life and the rooted rhythms of their hometown. Blending vibrant scenes from the Shuabazi festival with intimate personal stories, the film offers a warm and nuanced portrait of belonging, memory, and cultural continuity.

Directed by Jinghan Zheng, Yuxin Geng, and Yingtong Zhao (China)
