The Skin of Reason

Skin of Reason is a psychological short film that delves into the fragmented psyche of a former soldier grappling with the lingering shadows of war. Haunted by intrusive thoughts and moral dissonance, he navigates a surreal landscape where mirrors reflect not just his image, but the multifaceted layers of his identity.

As he confronts distorted versions of himself, memories from his private life emerge—moments of innocence, love, and loss—blurring the lines between past and present, reality and illusion. These transitions unveil the profound impact of his experiences, revealing how the echoes of childhood intertwine with the scars of combat.

This film is a tribute to those silently battling the aftermath of trauma and a call to acknowledge the complexities of mental health. Created with the unwavering support of my family, especially my brothers Gary and Willie, Skin of Reason is our collective endeavor to shed light on the unseen battles many endure.

Directed by Jossimar Lopez (USA)
