In Shapotou Desert Experiment Station subordinate to the Chinese Academy of Sciences, people come and go like shifting sand dunes. Wang Yong’er is an observer who has never received professional training but practical exploration. In this harsh environment, he has been working here for 33 years, like a resilient desert plant. Through conversations with Wang and recording his interactions with people around him, this film seeks to understand the spirit and strength that support him in confronting the solitude and the many regrets of life’s absences across years, making his contributions to the yellow sands transformed into an oasis.
