Two aspiring models, Nick and Lulu, are chopping wood in the mountains just outside of New York City. Lulu breaks news that shocks Nick – she has been signed by an agency. Simultaneously, in the distance, New York City has been nuclear bombed. Nick and Lulu are unaware, cocooned by the forest. Nick tries to be a supportive friend, but his insecurities and fear of abandonment kick in. As they confront old wounds and petty frustrations – some sincere and some shallow – tension builds and the world around them falls into chaos.
