Please Help Me Forgive

I lay in bed at night,
replaying the words
everything that they said
reliving the hurt.

I know I should forgive.
I know I should ask,
yet something inside
can’t let go of the past.

Lord, give me desire
to forgive the liars.
My heart says let it go.
But my mind tells me no.
I can’t let them win.
I need to forgive.
Fill me with your power.
Please help me forgive.

Time is so precious but
there are some people
who spew anguish and pain,
to make you feel so feeble.
I pray for the strength
help me to decide
to live life in peace
and put the pain aside.

and not dwell on the past.

to help me forgive.
