The Poison applies a circular, fear-turned-fantasy logic to the dynamics of our cultural obsession with public shaming and surveillance. Greg, a New York based twenty-something, has reached a point of impotence with the sexual fantasies that once satisfied him. When humiliation porn no longer gets him off, he turns to genuine moments of non-sexualized shame and punishment that exist in the public eye in the form of viral “Karen” videos. We spend a few days with him, his roommates, and his friends as this fixation unfolds and escalates.
