An unfiltered look at a historical art neighborhood in Lafayette, Louisiana known as Freetown. Filmed over a 4 day multi-genre music festival called The Freetown Shakeback, this documentary looks at the unique history, music, art, and challenges the community has faced through the voices of the native people. With origins as the first place free slaves were allowed to settle in Lafayette, Louisiana, this neighborhood has grown into a multi-cultural community and continues to be a hub for musicians and artists of all kinds. Although the community has been hit hard by the Fentanyl epidemic, they come together to address drug use in their own way.
