The short film ‘Dream of a Sedentary Traveler’ visualizes the daydream of a well-travelled flâneur.
In his daydream the protagonist arrives at world-famous, iconographic destinations. By repeatedly waving his hat, he seeks to connect with an imaginary viewer in an imaginary place from every point of his journey.
The beginning and end of the film shows the daydreaming, ‘sedentary’ protagonist at the starting point and at the destination from his journey.
The decor and feel of the starting point and the destination make it clear that the protagonist is not looking to improve his status, but he is a romantic dreamer whose motto could be ‘The real adventures are in the mind, and when they aren’t in the mind, they are nowhere’.
Ever since I was a 10-year-old boy, I’ve tried attaching a camera to my kites to photograph my surroundings – and myself – from the air. My attempt then failed.
