When I started to be more aware and informed of my identity as an African, I dug deeper than what schools taught me about my origin and colonialism, I started to realize that there was another side of the story and this perspective revealed that We were more than uncivilized or barbarians, we were great people, we were valuable, our land was rich, we were artists, doctors, healers and we had such a rich culture but had given away too much of ourselves because of colonialism. I believe that a shift in the way we think and view ourselves would be one step closer to a progressive Africa.
