White Cat is inspired by Liaozhai Zhiyi (Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio), a collection of Classical Chinese stories. On his way home, the woodcutter sees a woman in white dress. It seems that she is trying to lead him somewhere. So out of curiosity, the woodcutter follows her into the woods, where he finds a litter of newborn kittens crowding around their white-color mother cat. The woodcutter approaches them and realizes that the mother cat has already frozen to death. He then decides to take those kitten with him. Before he leaves, he looks for the woman who leads him to the kittens, but there’s no one there.
