“Esther’s Megillah” comedy/drama told through the eyes of Shani, soon to be celebrating her Bat Mitzvah. Shani grew up in a religious community in Gush Etzion where she always felt like an outsider. Donna, her mother, a loud, open American/Moroccan without inhibitions, doesn’t follow the social norms. It opens on the preparations Donna is making for the party in their garden. As the date gets closer, Shani is anxious and fears that things are getting out of control, since it coincides with Purim, the holiday of blurred borders.
